I can't believe the sfa are still considering what league / division to put then in when it is clear they should be starting afresh as a new concern. If they continue to ignore their own rules about new clubs joining the league such as 3 years of audited accounts or to make the new club start from the 2nd division it will confirm everything the Celtic fans have said for years about a Rangers bias in the hierarchy of Scottish football.

I like rangers a lot as a club but not under circumstances that sees them getting help from the powers that be!

Although they deserve everything they get and it is rather humourous what has happened to them its damaging to scottish football and Celtic as they both need each other as much as themselves

I think it was the right decision in the end. I think their punishment will adversely affect Scottish football but I also think not punishing Rangers would have had greater adverse consequences. Hopefully the SPL does not become a one horse race.

Div 3 will be best for Rangers, considering all the sanctions. Also the fans wanted Div3 as well, so that they could start all over again, from the bottom and owe nobody anything.

The biggest losers I would say are Celtic. They stand to lose £millions, in excess of £20m at least over the three years. In addition what a joke the SPL will become. I wonder if Celtic will get a fullhouse for a few years? Easy opposition and no competition - no looking over their shoulders at other team's results.

As for the rest of Scottish football, who kows. Any news from Sky?

Whilst our situation is a SHAMBLES & I cannot believe it has come to this maybe going into Div 3 is the best thing that can happen in an impossible situation. At least the wee teams will get some £ out of it for the next few seasons. The worry is the players. Some have stayed & some new ones were wanting to join us, who knows what will happen now?

As for the SPL, Scottish footy & Sellick (amongst others) let them take the consequences of their short-sightedness! Let's see the effect no Old Firm game , the withdrawal of tv coverage & the loss of revenue via our attendance at their grounds has. They're that dense the thought of how
they will survive financially won't probably enter their heads yet. Fire sale @ Parkhead pretty soon
I'd say!

Our club hasn't died & neither has our history. We will be back bigger, better and stronger and with our memory still in tact. Our fans will remember those the treatment we received.

No, you are correct. Rangers of old are no more.

The new company/club whatever they are called have no history, no trophies, and memories to be made.

A shame, but tough, you reap what you sow.

You have no history. You are new club starting from 2012.

I'm sure playing in the lower leagues will get boring pretty quick especially if you start losing a few.

I am reliably informed that it is the COMPANY that owned Rangers that were liquidated as opposed to the Club itself. Ie whatever that Charlatan Craig Whyte's company was called went, into liquidation, we are still the same club we are just owned by a new company called Sevco.

Because of this the history titles etc remain in tact. I am open to correction but that's what those who know more about than me say & the media etc. Apparently other teams who have had their parent company liquidated before us have retained their history also.

Anyway clutching at straws.com! No matter what we're still Rangers FC!

I very much doubt the billionaire Dermot Desmond will be having a fire sale at Parkhead just yet. Although he's no charity case, I think he'll be able to absorb any losses for the next 3 years, especially as they're now guaranteed first place and avoiding the early qualification rounds for the Champions League.

I have to say I really feel for the Rangers fans - how would we feel if this happened to Blues?

Good luck Mrs F, your lot will be back up in no time.

Sorry but I don't feel anything for the Rangers fans. Old Firm supporters have been spoiled rotten by decade after decade after decade of near total domination of the Scottish game, where even a nightmare season still usually means finishing no worse than second in the league! Most of them know no other way of life (in footballing terms) than perpetual success.

Now they’re being forced to endure relegation and lower league football for a few seasons. Hardly the end of the world, is it? All they’re going through is what millions of other football supporters of less prestigious clubs go through every year. I think it’s good that these footballing aristocrats get to experience how the other half live for once, it will build some character.

If I feel sorry for anyone it's the supporters of the other Third Division clubs who could spend their entire lives following their team with no less love and devotion than the Rangers fans have for their club, but who at the same time will never even see the SPL let alone win it dozens of times. Despite their short term problems Rangers are realistically going to be back in the SPL in just three years and back in the top two places within five. I'm pretty sure they'll cope with that.

For me, wether it be the company or the club you can never take the history away... it is, in essense, the same club... same supporters, same haters.

I think they deserve the punishment, but it's a hard hard pill to swallow.

I no doubt you'll enjoy the next 3 seasons and possibly come back stronger... imagine the atmosphere if at the 1st Ranger v Celtic match after a 3 year break (unless you meet in the cups along the way...) it'll be amazing the Blues v Villa games after we went up in 2002 were amazing because there hadn't been one for so long.

Our fans will remember those the treatment we received.

Don't know who you think has treated Rangers badly - the problem is caused by Rangers themselves, not anyone else.

And with this mess you would expect the Scotish UEFA co-efficient to fall relative to the Czech Repulic, Israel or Switzerland (and maybe even Croatia) which would reduce Scotland to only the one Champions League spot.

I'm no expert on the subject but I think Scotland being reduced to 1 Champions League spot would absolutely belt Rangers leaving them blowing in the wind through our lifetimes. (better Des?)
